The questions we are asked most often about our orangery planters.
Should I choose a teak or an acacia orangery planter?
Teak, classified as rot-proof, offers a slightly longer lifespan than acacia. Their sturdiness, however, is comparable. We recommend acacia if you want your orangery planter painted.
How much soil should I plan for my orangery planter?

Is an inner container necessary?
No, it is not necessary. A coat of diluted tar has been applied to the inside of our orangery planters. We also line the inside of the planter with a polyethylene sheet so that the soil is not in contact with the wood. An inner container would make it impossible to prune the plant’s roots if needed.
How do I choose the colour of my orangery box?
We ask you to give us a RAL shade. You can consult online colour charts such as couleursral.fr.
When should I prune the roots of the plant in my orangery planter?
When you notice yellowing or browning leaves, leaf loss or drying, slow growth or no flowering.
What size of planter should I choose?
The larger the volume of soil, the better your plant is protected from disease or lack of water. As for size, except for ball-shaped topiary plants, the rule of thumb is 1/3 of the height for the planter and 2/3 for the plant. Example: for a 95 cm planter, choose a plant about 190 cm tall.
Are the planters delivered assembled?
The planters are delivered assembled, unless specifically requested otherwise for difficult access. Note that assembly/disassembly is quick and easy.
How do I plant in my planter?
The planters are delivered ready to use. Place a layer of clay pebbles or pozzolana at the bottom of the planter, then the soil suited to your plant. See our Professional Advice section.
Does the orangery planter require maintenance?
We recommend applying a coat of wood saturator to untreated wood planters every 3 years. A first coat is applied by us before delivery.
How can I move my orangery planter?
For small orangery planters, a hand truck can be used. Beyond that size, a pallet truck will be necessary.
Which plants can I put in my orangery planter?
In principle, all plants are suitable for planting in our orangery boxes, as long as the soil is appropriate and the temperature and humidity match the plant’s requirements.
Can my orangery planter be customised?
On request, we can for example remove or replace the ornamental balls (with pine cones, for instance). We also offer orangery planters in two-tone colours.
What are the delivery times?
1 week (unless out of stock) for unpainted orangery boxes, and 3 to 4 weeks for painted orangery boxes.
